Where do I start in diagnosing the fan switch on an 86 Vette. It will turn the blower motor on in position 3, but when on 1, 2, or high, it will not work. Would this be the switch itself or is there something else that is wrong. Any help appreciated!

Manual A/c ; not Electronic?
If Man
The blower switch would be first thing to look at
At the switch connector ;bypass switch by jumpering yellow to the other wires and see if fan speed changes
If you can get lower speeds but not Hi then is possible Hi speed relay is faulty ( or the fusible link supplying it is blown ) as well as faulty switch
Remember it may also be wiring faulty; dirty / bad connection somewhere and not a actual component failure.
Only way to check is to follow power through circuit below with a DVM
