It looked good on paper. I think they sent me the wrong one even though the instrutions say it is the correct one. In the picture showing the item installed
...the clutch rod looks different. This is a nice product. It's got them there Hy-Me joints in their for real smooth slop free clutch operation.

Only one problem ..the clamping meck bracket that bolts to the clutch fork when tightened down locks the bracket to the fork and you lose the pivot action of the pin that would normally be their.

You can see in the pic's that the shaft is to long. The Cluctch fork and Throw out bearing are in contact with the diaphram fingers of the clutch. The arm needs to move forward or towards the front of the car to gain the needed clearence between the baering and fingers. In the pic you can see that there is no way it will move forward.

The anniamation is the stock system moving the bearing.... to contact the diaphram and then back to it's rearward stop point.
Yep....sure is hard to get the parts right the first time ....Huh Rich...;LOL

man VNV you gots skills with the puter, love the animation thing, could really help explain a lot of the stuff I try to describe on here.

p.s. my garage shelves are littered with "didn't quite cut it" parts too . . .

If it all bolted together the first time, and without modifications, we wouldn't need to do it ourselves.....we could simply train chimpanzees to do it.

My problem was the stock rod was too short. :cry

They probably sent me the wrong rod. I'll call them tomorrow.The one that goes from the Clutch pedal to the Z bar hasn't been tried yet. Wonder what's going to happen there..... :beer

Thanks for the comment. Just spent some time with the picture program to figure it out. You probably know more about puters then me... :beer

Good question, Mike. I've always been amazed how the throw out bearing hangs on to the fork after all the thrashing about to install the transmission....especially with the body on.

Yep..We mated the trany on the floor.The 502 was on a roll around engine stand. I watched as the input shaft went thru the Baering. It was locked on the fork. If you look closely in the one pic you can see the baering sitting nicely on the fork be for the moment of Insertion.... :L ...Yeah baby... He said insertion..

The movement you see in the annimation is ...Throw-Out Baering... fully to the rear or towards the tranny case.... And Fully to the Contact point of the diaphram Fingers.....But Not Dissengaugeing the clutch. Or in other words..Just the free travel range of the baering. I put a 4 foot pipe on the z bar and operated the clutch meck. It does release ok but with out the pedal assembly it requires a lot of force to dissengauge.

ThrashingYou Say...... We didn't do no Stinken Trashing....The tranny was wined and dinned and massaged into place with candel lignt and flowers.

A lot of force to disengauge is an understatement. I tried doing that last year when I attached my 5 spd to the motor before I put it in the car and I had a time of it.... Oh btw do you know where I can get a cheap steering box??:L :L

Sounds like some old F_rt has been yacking about my bad expeience. Heh...I'm not ashamed...just short a few bucks.... :L And he knows who he is..and will probably see this. :L Well at least I don't own stock in Heil-y Coil....Ask him about that one.

Heh Charles... They are Sanderson Headers model # BB-5 . They were designed for the BB 502. Rich Of Richescorvettes here on the forum had Sanderson custom build them for him a few years back when he was building his 67 ...502.

Sanderson was the only Header mfg that offered to custom make them. They even went out and bought a BB 502 to use as a model. The Exchaust ports are perfectly matched to the alumin heads on the 502.The quality of the header is EXCELLENT and The Factory Support Is Also Excellent..

Send the linkage back and get a hydraulic t-bearing.

Man, that engine/trans combo is awesome. Looks like you may need to make one of them there spin-able license plates:D

I thought they looked like Sandersons. I have some of their cast exhaust manifolds on my wife's car. From what I have seen and heard they make a good product.

What size primary tubes do your headers have? The largest tube size that their web site lists is 1-7/8". I need something with a 2" inside diameter for my new engine.
