1997 boosted silver coupe
Hi, currently I'm the newest of the newbies.

We have a 1997 C5 M6. Although it isn't my first Corvette (C1, C2s and a C3), it will be my last.

My job is automotive engineering and do what is needed with the car, SUV and 4x4 truck. Our other hobbies are camping, fishing, shooting, and Ham Radio.
We ordered an A&A V3-Si yesterday, but I won't be doing the install until the plant shuts down.

Thank you, I joined and lurk at a few Corvette Forums and we liked this one the best.

Hoping UBB works:

Is your C-5 a stick or automatic? What is a 1997 C5 M6; maybe I've missing something here so thought I would ask.

Manual 6 speed.

When I joined the Army, I sold a 63 Coupe so my choice of a 1997 was deliberate. Yes, I am still kicking myself for that and the others.

Guess I wasn't thinking :duh M6 means a stick, lol!!:L I from the get go wanted the 6-speed manual transmission, there have been a few times stuck in traffic that an automatic would have been cool but I do love to shift and have that control. You learn little tricks in traffic like using the emergency brake, etc. Love going through the gears up and down when I want to :Steer

I don't mind shifting. It was advertised as an automatic so I pretended to be highly disappointed. She added said I never drove a 6 speed accompanied by the "look." Which is true, but she has driven 3, 4 and 5 speeds. :L

We are the second owner and the first owner bought another owner's manual and filled it with notes. The original manual is still in the fake leather folder complete with the note paper with the C5 logo etc. Cargo net, security shade, original bag for the roof, original mats hidden under the Lloyd replacements, the window sticker and build sheet were there also.

Sounds like a real good find :thumb I know I might be partial but I still think the C-5 is the nicest looking Vette out there, just look at the sleek, stealth looking lines, through the hood, top if you have a couple and right through the back glass, awesome design!!! ! The C-6 and on had to grow on me and still is some, love the high tech stuff that wasn't available before, interior is dynamite too!!! Not that I could afford to buy one no more than I drive one. And of course the classics are awesome but they cost even more and I would be afraid to drive them too much.

It is a fun car, it isn't a daily driver and the price was right. We enjoy American history and visit Cowpens, Kings Mountain, Walnut Grove (preserved Revolutionary war) plantation and others. As I live in North Carolina, I fumbled fingered the title.

We both liked the C5's styling and she is adamant all Corvettes have pop up headlights and round tail lights. ;) However as she isn't watching, from C1 to C7, I haven't seen a Corvette I don't like.
I bought the book "All Corvettes are Red" and it is a fascinating read. I recommend it to any C5 or for that matter any Corvette owner. I owned a few of the classics and in their own way each was very special; but the C5 is my baby.

I too am a stickler for the hidden head lights, been the signature of the Corvette since what 1963 to 2004 now, C-5 will be and presently is the last series for this now. I like all Corvettes as well just some better than others :happyanim:

The C-5 just has the sexy lines from the front to the rear and sleek like a stealthy looking going through the air.

hoosierdaddy,
We really enjoy the car, the way it looks, rides and handles. On a flat road at 58ish in 6th, the fuel economy is unbelievable. At first I was certain the car was equipped with a lie-o-meter; so, I hand calculated a few fill ups and nope, it is close.

Cafaro's team did one heck of a job with the styling. The stealthy look is seriously slippery aerodynamics, as is the edge where the rear meets the rear quarter panel. I work with "air" so I appreciate what I see. The effort GM's engineers put into the car is commendable.

Everyone loves Corvettes, but the one we chose to own is the best.

PS
As I worked with a Hoosier, I know how to say it correctly. ;)

Have you been to the Hoosier State?

What type of automotive engineering and for which manufacturer?

What kinda shooting do you do?

We ordered an A&A V3-Si yesterday, but I won't be doing the install until the plant shuts down.

So you going to supercharge the car? How many miles are on the engine? Does it have any other modifications?
