Help 1959 Wipers wont turn off

Help,
Just got my new (new to me) 1959 and now the wipers wont turn off. They go from high to low fine but dont seem to shut off. I found the cable on the wiper motor and it is pulled all the way back.

An idea what else to try?

Moisten windshield, keep it wet with a spray doing this work-
loosen up cable from slide controller so you can work it by hand.
turn on ignition
Note there is no electrical connection to dash, only a cable. Working the cable and slide activates the wiper motor which always has power going to it when ignition is turned on.
work the slide back and forth by hand, keeping windshield damp
wipers should operate and if you're lucky, will park. timing the park during a down stroke may help as well.
If it parks ok, reconnect cable accordingly so it will park.
Don't forget to turn off power when done.
If not, you'll have to remove cover and work on contacts. Do a forum
search.
Motors and switches can get real sluggish if not worked occasionally.

Contrary to popular belief, these cars will not melt if driven in the rain. But you will want to bring some towels with you.....

Thanks for the info. I was able to slide the plasic slide over and get them to park so it looks like it is just an adjustment issue.

It connects to the ballast resistor on the same connection as the brown wire from the ignition switch.
