1992 lt1
i have a 1992Lt1 for about a year i love it it has 35,000 miles heres my problem. I try starting it . It dosent start . I got full power from battery windows radio etc. all work. It dosent make a sound when i try to start it . nine out of 10 times it starts. When it dosent start if i check back later it starts. USUALLY .

Try checking out your starter relay up on the firewall. The contacts can get burned and sometimes it starts, some time it doesn't. If unsure what it looks like, get an auto parts store to show you a new one. Buy it, and swap it out. 90% sure that's the problem.

Does it click or make any kind of sound? Like someone else said either the relay or the solinoid on the starter if it makes a clicking sound, is the battery terminials clean?

Good luck,
Bill :w

Hello, Mojo,
Welcome to the CAC. Sorry to hear you're having ignition issues. You might also try posting a message in the C4 General Discussion forum to see if someone has experienced a similar issue and what they discovered about it.

Hi,
I just had the same problem and found the the battery even though it was indicating it was fully charged did not have enough cranking amps to start the car. Especially after it was warm. Just a thought.

battery or solinoid or starter if car is a automatic try rocking it back and forth to see if you can jar the starter if it starts its the starter for sure :beer :D

You failed to say if it was a automatic or manual. If a 6-speed check the clutch switch. They have been known to stick when the clutch pedal is pushed in.

Good luck.

Look to see if the security light in the dash is blinking when you turn the key. If it is the vats system thinks it is the wrong key. I had the identical intermitant problem and I cleaned the resistor in the key and it has been fine for 3 years.
