Knock Off wheels

Jenny,
I'll try to help. The information comes from such sources as the NCRS, GM, the "Vette Vues Fact Book" by M. F. Dobbins, and "The Complete Corvette Resoration & Technical Guide - Vol.2 1963-1967" be Noland Adams.

Production Numbers Option P48
1963 0
1964 806
1965 1,116
1966 1,194
These numbers represent the numbers of cars BUILT & DELIVERED with this option. An undocumented 12 to 14 sets were to be delivered in 1963, however, due to air leakage, none were delivered until mid production of 1964. Numerous other sets were sold across the parts counter for owner instalation.

The possibility of the spinner being banned by federal pedestrian safety regulations dictated the change in 1967 to the bolt-on style aluminum wheel,

1964 and 1965 original wheels were date stamped with a rubber stamp while the 1966 was stamped with a metal die XX-XX-XX or mo- day-yr. The stamping location was deep and on the back side.

Just about anything aluminum can be heli-arc welded and restorations can be accomplished - my question is how bad is yours damaged? If it leaks air only some have had success with an epoxy coating of the inside.

I'm not sure , but I believe the original wheels did not come with aluminum safety pins for the KO spinners. I know the reproductions do have them.

I'm sorry that you're handicapped er blonde.....
keep the tape recorder with the tape loop that says,
"Breath in..................Breath out............Breath in..............Breath out " set to play continuously.:J

To alleviate the handicp dye your hair brown
:grinsanta

You can't be too dumb of a blond, you're asking for help BEFORE getting ripped off.

Genuine original Kelsey-Hayes wheels have the K-H logo and numbers on the back; any wheel with "WW" or "Western Wheel" cast on the back are reproductions.

The original KO's did not have the safety pins for the KO spinner. The originals also have fins that are tapered, larger close to the center and slimmer as they approach the outer rim. The repro's are thicker and uniform.

The originals also have a slimmer rim edge than the repro's.

Hope this helps.
