HELP '84 Fan Circuit Gone Crazy!

Today I notice that the fan wouuld come on only when the A/C was on! Normally, the sensor wire was shorted, so it came on whenever the ignition was on. I was happy with that. So, I started checking it out, and it blew fuses like there's no tomorrow! I suspected the relay, and replaced it. No joy! Had the connector apart, and the blue wire(sensor?) shows 12vdc. The green/white about 6vdc. The blue wire at the sensor shows 10volts. Wierd huh? If i replace the fuse with the ignition on, it blows a fuse when it try to read voltage with a meter! Had the relay hooked up without the connector, and using the blue wire for ignition, I grounded the relay terminal, and Viola!. Hooked the connector and now it blows fuses again. Won't come on with the A/C. I'm at the end of my rope. The headlight gear stripped again(new) and I unpluged it, and this happened. Probably unrelated, and when I tried the new relay, I heard a clunk from the tranny!(just before the fuse blew).
Can anyone shed any light on this mystery???Please! :confused :hb

Ground the tempature coolent switch (on the pass side of the block) see if the fan come on...if it does replace switch. Also check the fuseible link. Ground the wire going to the AC...fan should come on. (this wire is the one at about 10 oclock looking at the back of the compressor)

Thanks for the schematic. Helped me a lot! I wound up installing a relay upgrade kit from Ecklers, and problem solved. Thanks again;
Jerry
