Help, My 97 dic went crasy on me, it started yesterday I turned it on and then everything went bad, all messages you could think of; reduced engine power, something about max speed 80MPH, shocks innoperative, check tire presure, service ride control, check engien light came on, abs, and i don't know how many other things. So I disconected the battery, reset the computer and it was fixed, for about 5 more starts, then the same all over, today the gauges went out the DIC did not work, then I turned it off an on and then all the messages came back on and the car wold turn on but then it would die on me.

Here are the codes that I got:

10pcm
p1571h
p1626h

40BCM
u1255h

60IPC
u1160h
u1176h

99havc
u1064h
u1096h
u1160h

borfa
u1064h

What do they mean, I was reading some other posts about repalcing a "TAC"? Help I am stranded on a saturday night with out my favorite toy.
:cry :cry

Hi there,
I dont see any codes for the TCS?????
Did you have 'No codes', or what did you see????
There was a communications issue with your car, however, our key here is telling us what the other module codes were. This will enable us to find the problem more efficiently.
I would start by removing the key, after your retreive all codes.
Then disconnect the negative terminal of the battery for about 5 mins.
Then, reconnect, and tell us what you see.

DIC went crazy

I get no codes for the TCS, these are all the codes that I got, my car starts fine now? is it because it is starting cold? Now I am afraid to drice it and get stranded somewhere, what should I do?

C4C5 thank you for all your help, you are trully an asset to this community.:w

Hi there,
Ok, first, your U1255 shows us that the entire communications line, for all computers has a fault. This would NOT be related to the TAC module, as this is on a different circuit than all the other control modules.
However, one thing that is curious, you have 2 codes shown for the LDCM, or the left door control module. Now, there are no codes from that module. This shows me that there may be a concern for the LDCM, as this could be causing this concern.
Normally, per GM data link diagnostics, you would always first look to the number of codes that are the most prevalent, which would be your U1160, because every other code only shows once.

Silver97,

When I read your post, I could relate. The exact same thing has happened to me immediately after starting and all the messages coming on. In fact, most of the messages are exactly the same.

My problem was a weak battery and corrosion on the positive terminal. So far the battery has bounced back by cleaning the terminals, but I suspect its a defective battery and will have to be replaced. When battery voltage dips below 10.8v, all kinds of weird things can happen with the computers. It clears up (the messages can be erased) once the alternator kicks in, if the battery is still in good condition.

Here are the things to check:

Battery.... yours may be bad, have corrosion on the terminal(s) or worse might be leaking. Pull the battery, check the tray underneath for acid corrosion and have the battery tested. Clean up the terminals with a wire brush, if the battery tests okay.

Battery cables.... check for corrosion or breaks from leaking acid.

Alternator....... if your battery is okay, you may have a charging problem. Have the alternator tested. Check for good electrical connections and check to make sure your serpentine belt isn't slipping. The belts do stretch.

Hopefully your problem is this simple...... if not, c4c5specialist should be able to assist.

Was wondering, is the fuse box area on your passenger side wet. Could it be that your AC drain tube is plugged and water from your AC is leaking onto your computers. Or, do you have the original Delco in it, has it begun to leak on to your computers.

Good luck guy, let us know how you make out.

Hey thanks all fo ryour replies:)

I checked the possitive on the battery and did clean it there was some corrosion on it, I have found that my car gives me problems only after being driven for a while, I go to turn on or off the alarm and all hell breaks loose with the DIC ( also the alarm doesnt work properly until I reset the computer). I switched batterys on the remote just in case. I also checked the fuse box on the passenger side and it is dry.

I got some new codes this time that I checked the computer:

28TCS c1255h
Aoldcm u10g4h
A1rdcm u1064h

80 radio u1016h

& all the usual codes I got before

I have not used it sime I cleaned the terminals, I simply started it and everything was O.K. I will see tommorrow when I drive it how it ends up. IF the problem persists I will have to take it to the dealership.

Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks

New addition to the problem:

My alarm keeps arming it self, and no one is pushing the button on the control, I also made sure that the passive alarm button is not activated?

My car has gone crazy on me:hb
