Hello,

I am thinking about NCRSing my 1981 50/74 completely original 17k car, I am the second owner and have had the car for 7 years.

If any one that has NCRSed before can you tell me what to expected ?

Thanks !

This is purely a personal opinion but if your intent is to be a one-time-wonder, meaning that you'd bring the car out to just one meet to be judged then disappear, it might not be worth your bother. You'd be missing out on 90% of the opportunities available.

Contact your local chapter and go to one of their meets or judging schools.

Thanks guys !
I have had the books for about 7 years. I am a all or nothing kind of guy, Its Bow-tie for me if I think she can do it.
I just wondered about what parts do you have to take off turning judging any little things you know they look for but don't tell in the book ?

Thanks again !

Usually just the air filter and the distributor cover part of the shielding so they can see the components on the top of the engine. Also the spare tire lid is dropped down and the tire removed. For some pictures of cars being judged check out this thread from last week's Arizona Regional. I would also suggest that you attend a chapter meet and a regional and register to be an observer judge. Then you can get first hand experience on how the process goes before you get your own car judged. Keep in mind that the judges are not out to get you or trick you up. They want to see you succeed in your quest and will go over the judging sheets with you after judging so you will understand how your car was judged. They might even point out something the day before that you may have missed.

Good luck and most of all have fun. You will make a lot of new friends at these meets.

There's no books or guides for Bowtie. Very little in common with Flight Judging.

Yes they are NCRS publications. You will need the '68-'82 Corvette Technical Information Manual and Judging Guide which is the guide for preparing your car for judging. Also get the Judging reference manual. This explains the judging process. rules and awards. Both are available from the NCRS book store.

Tom-

The OP is after a Bowtie award. None of the above publications will be of much value and could result in the car missing out on a chance for the award if any sort of prep work is done beyond normal cleaning.

If I remember right you have to present your car for judging. A judge has to nominate it for Bow tie. I think the requirements are outlined in the Judging Reference Manual. Be sure to know what is required for Bow tie before doing anything more than normal cleaning and necessary maintenance. My manual is home in Ohio so I can't verify now.
