Can someone tell me where, on the internet, I can find notes or pictures as to where the motor identification numbers are? I need to know where they are located on the motor. Thanks, RR

JohnZ said:Your pad should look similar to the photo below (it's a '62); the Flint Engine assembly date code/suffix will be at the inboard end of the pad in 1/4" characters, and the car's VIN derivative will be stamped on the outboard end of the pad in 3/16" characters. If the engine is original to the car, the VIN derivative stamping will start with a "1", and the next six digits will match the last six digits on the VIN tag on the steering column.

On the stamp pad on the right front surface of the block you should see the Vin number and the engine identification stamp. It should be F (Flint) 01 (month) 11 (day) and the suffix in my case a 270HP CU.
Hope this helps

But, my corvette book says there should only be 6 numbers (them being the last 6 digits of the VIN number). You have a "61" right? What or how many numbers do you have on your's? Sorry to be so much trouble. Thanks, RR
