While working on my tires i broke the Lug key i need some help what to do?

84/vette,

Check out this past Thread pardon the pun.. couldn't help myself :D

There is a lot of good information contained in it and it may provide you with a solution to your crisis ;)

Rare Thanks for the info but that post refers to Mcgaurd and mine is not them but i am open to more suggestions even if i have to drill them out i want to get them off

You'll damage a socket, but you can get it off by hammering an old socket onto the nut. Thieves do it all the time. ;)

_ken :w

actually you can go to the parts/tool store and buy a Gator Socket. Its liek 3/4 big but its filled with little pins in it to grab near anything.

Normally I hate this thing its junk to work with but in your case Im betting it'll solve the problem so you can get a new set of lockers put on with a new key.

Even if they aren't Mcguard, the brand or the mfr. should have a phone hotline ? Or contact a local Tire/Custom Wheel shop and see if they have any suggestions..

I'm sure you're not the first person to have this problem with the brand of Lug Locks you have ;) by the way what brand are they?

BudD
:bu :w

Rare
the Lugs Locks Came with the car And I don't know the brand as of yet they are smooth all the way around with little nobs(like 8 or so) on the end of the lug near the rim

Can you post a pix?

That way we have a better idea what your talking about...

Your saying there isn't enough of a lug sticking out to POUND a cheepie socket over?

Next would be take it to a tire store... those guys have ALL the tricks!

Vig!

I'm told that Snap-On makes a tool that removes any locking wheel nut. It has hardened ridges on the inside of a socket which you pound into the nut. The nut's useless after though. Good Luck!

that's fine if it destroys the nut because i don't need the anyway if someone want to steal my rims they will spend a good 15 min pre wheel as is. I will look into snap-on they come to my work weekly
