In a previous post I pointed out the dealer solution to a broken adjuster nut on the ragtop $$$. I went the creative route and had a new thread tapped in (looks as good as new).

My question now is there is a ball and socket joint that needs to come off so that the two pieces can be reattached. I have tried turning the nut that attached it to the frame but onlu get about a 3/4 turn before it tightens up (I've tried both ways). I don't want to force it and have another problem.
Anyone with a service manual tell me if I'm missing something?
See the attached file for reference.
Thanks
Rob

Have you tried simply spraying a chemical that will lube the threads so it won't bind? Use WD-40 penetrate, or a something from GM called, Heat Valve Lubricant. Might be ready to snap off if you're not careful? Soak it well before attempting it again. Give it a few minutes to work it's chemical action.
Wait for other posts. I'm thinking now it might be a left hand thread, but I don't know for sure?

Found something else when I pulled back the weatherstrip there is a very small hole in the aluminum frame right at the attachment point. Same hole on both sides.
