Hello everyone. I'm right in the middle of installing my 180* stat and it has the little brass pin on it. On most cars where the stat installs vertically they say it should always be installed upwards.
Which direction does it get installed for the horizontal application on the L98?
Thanks

The sharp edge of the flange should be toward the block, with the spring coil facing inside the intake. The spring will monitor the engine coolant temp in the block and open the thermostat when the rated temp. is reached. Since the flow of coolant is from the top of the radiator to the block, make sure it is facing so that the spring will push the thermostat closed opposing the flow from the radiator.

Yes I'm aware of that. I'm referring to the little brass pin on the stat.

I know how the stat goes in - there is a little release pin about a 1/16 of an inch in diameter which on vertical installations should point upwards.
