after taking a long cruze today i stopped off at my folks house for a bit. when i pulled out of the driveway i noticed a spot of dexcool on the ground.
when i got home saw some more on the garage floor.it looks like its under the right part of the radiator.so i pulled the car out and let it run until the fans kicked in, about 220 with no overheating.looked under and saw no leaking. the only thing i noticed was the reservoir looked completely full.i tried to follow the overflow hose but it looks like it goes back into the radiator. is this true??? what should i do next???? again i was driving it all day for about 3hrs with no problems....
thanks all........:w

update,
did some poking around, saw some red fluid around top part of radiator on right side. there are two lines there going in the radiator. top line is wet.is this a power steering cooling line????????:hb

First of all, there are lots of folks on this forum that actually know what they're talking about when it comes to Corvettes ... I'm not one of them. Hopefully one or more will chime in soon.

Having said that, as far as you Dexcool spot is concerned, fluid can get directly past the filler cap seal under pressure and flow directly to the ground .. should be more or less inside your right front wheel if that is what happened on your car. If that's what you see, you may need a new pressure cap.

As for the two lines & red fluid, if you have an automatic transmission, they are most likely the lines used to bring the transmission fluid to the radiator for cooling. There should be no fluid leaking here. Unless you're very comfortable mechanically, I'd recommend having a professional check the fasteners (carefully tighten) &/or check the lines for cracks at the fittings.

thanks for responding,,,,,,
the only other thing i noticed was the coolant level was way above full cold mark in the reservoir when cold.i have the car two years now and never added any coolant. i guess if problem continues i will just take her to the dealer............:w

coolant and transmission fluid have a very different texture, transmission and power steering fluid being oil based. coolant is water based, and should wash off with just water. Has someone just flushed the transmission, or topped off the coolant? The chevy dealer is a good recomendation if you can't figure it out.

- Of the things you mentioned, the red fluid would bother me the most. Again, if you have an automatic, that is probably transmission fluid & you DO NOT want that to run low.

Today i went for a little ride and when i came back i looked at the right part of the radiator again and i saw only a drop of red fluid around the rubber hose that goes to the top part of the coolant reservoir.it smells sweet so it must be coolant.im wondering if this line is a overflow hose because its about 1/2 diam.its odd because now i dont see any fluid on the floor and the bottom of the radiator is bone dry.i guess i will just keep a close eye on it and if it gets worse i will just bring it to the dealer.
later......:)

just tighten or change the clamp before you spend real money
