HELP! Reduced Power, Service EVERYTHING, Fog Lamp relays buzzing

Thanks everyone for the words on all issues.

The Baby is staying here in Kosciusko, MS with Susan's parents for the week.
I am going to the funeral and helping the family with matters.
Susan has taken the Expedition with the navigation system loaded for Evansville, IN, has let corporat hq know that she will be attending training alone this week, and that she needs a late check in at the hotel tonight. Class starts for her in the morning.
(and she will pick up the baby on the return trip to the coast.)

I did get out this morning and had the stock Delco checked. It was bad.
New red top Optima for $109 and all is back to normal - thank goodness.

There needs to be a section of the owners manual titled
"your battery is dying and your car is going ape ****!"
(what to do when the DIC says SERVICE EVERYTHING)

because right now it simply says go to the dealership for anything even related to what happened to me last night... and all of it could have been put right with a new battery.

Food and Sleep helped - and things will fall into place.
Thanks guys -
Rain

Did you check the battery terminal? Mine did the EAXCT same things right before it (the terminal) fell off in my hand. Bad batery, a lot of corrosion on the contact.

I did check it and it was exactly the opposite..
battery looked brand new, had a green light in the viewfinder, and the terminals were snug, clean, and minty fresh(hehe).
But we had it checked anyway and it was a Bad Battery afterall.

new Optima in and all is perfect with the car again (needs a wash and its freezing cold up here in central Mississippi) I miss the beach.

Excellent news, Rain. I'm glad it was only the battery, and like I said earlier, you have all our condolences on your grandfather's passing.

Chalk this up to one of those character building experiences life sometimes throws at us. Good to see you're bearing it with grace.

Exactly - doesnt kill us, it makes us stronger...

I was very relieved when the battery tested showed BAD BATTERY..
if it read GOOD, then I knew it was off to the dealership at $75 an hour for troubleshooting.. my wallet thanks me!

considering an extended warranty now. I have 44k miles on a 2000 model..
this viable?

We have a whole thread on Extended Warranties... CLICK

I believe your 2000 should certainly be viable.

My Condolences.

Hi Rain

Sorry for your loss and my prayers will go out for you and your family.

Being that you moved up to the C5 section for some reason l missed the thread.

You are a better man then l, if that happened to me that dealership would have definitely found a sucker. In my opinion if that happened to me l would have expected it to blow up.

Alan

haha yes, I've been a bit distant with my C4.. this C5 is addictive..
I was happy with my 96 being nearly stock but this C5 just screams MOD ME DADDY, MOD ME!
I have some work to do on the C4 still but that will come in time. (im enjoying the C5 entirely too much)

It just freaked me out.. Everything was flashing and lights were on and it wanted me to service everything at once. The reduced power thing after the original push start really felt like a kick to the groin.

Lucky for me, I have the phone number to the president of my local Corvete Club there on the coast. HE was the first one I called and he walked me thru checking fuses, battery cables, etc.
When the DIC would not even come up he offered to bring his flat bed the 2 hours up to get me and bring me back to the coast (another 2 hours) and probably would not have even let me pay for gasoline.
He doesn't own a C5 (but has three C3s - one NCRS Top Flight) but had the knowledge to walk me thru simple checks. A few of the clubmembers called today to check on me. Really good bunch at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Corvette Club

My condolences also

Hi Rain,
Sorry to hear about your grandfather. It seems when it storms, it's gotta be a F5. Hope everything works out okay with the business. I hope the car is okay too. I know for sure I'd have been thinking all kinds of stuff and G** D****** everything in creation. Be well and God bless you & your family. Tom
