How do you reach the 4 nuts beneath the dash? I have a 1976 and it seems to be next to impossible to get anything on it. You can't get a wrech on it. I got a deep socket, with a flexible attachement on it, but can't get it to stay on trying to get a socket wrench on that. And the top left one doesn't look like i have a chance in hell to get anything on it. What am i missing? Are you better off dropping the dash?

Take out the vent tube going to the left side of the driver and the trim panel below the steering column. That will make it a lot easier to see. I used a 16 inch long extension and a socket with a U-joint. Depending on what year your car is you may have 2 nuts on one stud. The top nut holds a ground wire.
NOTHING will make the job easy. I've done the job twice in the past 12 months.

One of the least fun jobs there is! I replaced mine with the dash entirely out of the car, and it was still a major pain in the patootie. It helps if you are a contortion artist. :bang
