Hi all,

My 77 has the factory installed body colored sport mirrors. Unfortunately, the rivets holding the mounting plates on have both cracked and the mounting plates are very loose now. This causes the mirror to wobble at the base and I'm worried they'll fall off and crack.

I've looked for replacement parts at the online parts houses but I'm having a hard time understanding how they install. It looks like they use some sort of screw / nut combination instead of a rivet? How in the world would you get inside the door to get the nut on there?

Anyhow, anyone replace this things before? I'd appreciate some words of advice.

Thanks!

Russell

Those are very cool!

Where did you happen to get them?

I think I found something very similiar at True Value. I am sure Mc Master would have them.
try this link

and search for rivit nuts. That is what I used.

Thanks!

I did some more looking last night and my drivers side mirror is loose because 1 of the nuts holding the bracket on is loose, so a replacement rivet nut should fix the problem!

My passenger side has one rivet head popped off and needs to be replaced. Again, a rivet nut should work perfectly.
