I have a '95 (built a bit) and my boss is ****ed that his '03 Z-06 can't beat me on the track. Anyone have some quick, not-to-tough mods that I can do to his to give him a few more ponies without voiding any warranties? Thanks for any ideas.

Dan

Dan,
As an '03 Z06 owner, I can sympathize with your boss. :D

What mods, if any, has your boss made to his Z? The most common, basic mods involve an air intake system, exhaust and programming module. Do you know if he's done any of those yet?

If it is 1/4 mile, drag radials and a Vararam got me 5MPH and about 0.8 seconds improvement. If I was going to spend some more money, the next thing that I might consider is some lower rear end gearing. Of course, a supercharger could be just the thing! :)

The easiest thing and the

smartest thing to do is just let him win ;) ! Then mod your own car some more :D !!

What have you done to your car? When you say "built a bit," I'm thinking it's built a lot!:L:L:L

Negotiate a contract as an independent analyst to cover your time and expenses. Then as an independent contractor, advise him to give you a pay raise in exchange for letting him win and save face. Ain't capitalism great!

Thanks for the help, guys, much appreciated! bluecoupe & DRTH VTR, it's 1/4 mile, I put the Veraram on it and he picked up .5 (on stock shoes, he's getting the drag radials next), lov-n-life, that would be GREAT! ... except I'm military, the pay scale stays the same lol. jrose, nice idea, but mine's an auto, I race bracket; and last, but certainly not least, Edmund. My puppy's now a 383 stroker bottom, LT-4 ported/polished on top, BBK, MSD, Hooker longs to 3" true dual, Raptor 4L60E w/Trans-go, 3.75 chunk, all fed by a 200 shot of our little nitrous friend. (Built a bit :-)).

Thanks again, guys, he still can't touch me on the track, but I gave him some more ponies on the street, and my life has become MUCH easier at work! lol

:upthumbs Dan, that is one bad@$$ motor! Have you ever had her dyno'd?

Not yet, I want to do one more tweak with my C.A.T.S. tuner first, but the numbers say 730 at the flywheel (on the bottle, obviously), probably around 510 to the pavement. I won't lie, this is probably the strongest small block I've built. This SOB takes all the punishment I can give and just wants more! BTW, Edmund, that's a pretty sharp-lookin' fiddle you have there, is that a Fender or Washburn? I have a Fender 12 and an Ovation 6 acoustic plus a few metal bangers. What kind of tunes you play?

Hey, DRTH, F'ing "A" on "save the wave"! Few things **** me off more than a Corvette "owner" that doesn't wave. Those are the guys that buy one because they have a lot of money and a little dick. If you don't love the car, the history, the attitude and the comraderie, then don't own one. Do I get an "Amen?" lol How do I put that on my sign off like you have?

Dan

Dan,

That's The Martin D-28 acoustic guitar, the "standard by which all large bodied steel string guitars are measured to.":D
Strongest SB you've built? I think that's more like BB power!:upthumbs I think the boss has a ways to go before he can keep up with you.

The God that is Martin...

I play only Martin Marquis .012s on my acoustics, such a sweet sound :-), I get a little meaner on my bangers, .009 Ernie Ball super slinky's, but that's to be expected.

NEXT QUESTION! WTF is up with the car dying when i run through a puddle? Is there a kit to protect the distributor from water??? This thing is ****ing me off!

Dan

Let the BOSS win a few times, even if your vette is faster!
