Well as some of you already know I bought a 68 vette a few months ago. I have not turned on so a couple of weeks now. So I go to turn it on and i will not start (as if it had no gas) so I put a lil of gas in the carb and it starts right away. as long the car is not moving it stays on. then I take her out for an around the block cruise and as soon I slow down let go the gas it turns off. It will start after that but it keeps turning off when I come to a stop. Now a lil history: according to the previous owner the car sat for about 8 years turning it on once in a while. It does not have the original fuel pump (it has an electric one)

Does this sound like a carb issue?
Fuel pump?
does it have anything to do because it sat for along time without driving it?
where should I start trubleshooting?

Thanks.

Sounds like it has been sitting long enough to clog up your idle jets. Turn your idle adjuster screws in and count how many turns it takes to bottom them out. (3/4- 1-1/2 turns is normal)Take out your idle needle valves, clean them up and shoot some carb cleaner in there, put them back in and set them back to where they were, and see what happens.

good idea on the mixture screws. Also I would get rid of the gas in the tank, put in some fresh gas and a can of Seafoam. that should clean up the fuel system. maybe ought to check for vacuum leaks around base of carburetor and manifold. good luck
