Looking for guidance in selling a "re-built" 1978 L82. When purchased was advised car had been stolen and transmission removed but original engine. I have not verified if engine is orginal but am guessing it's not. Friend wants to buy car but have no idea of worth. Car has not been driven or running since 1993. Any ideas what this car would be worth?? Would really love to restore car but don't have the time. :confused

I won't even make a "WAG" it's really up to what you feel comfortable with and want out of the deal ;)

My advice:

Find out if the VIN is still intact, this will help the prospective buyer know if your 78 is an Anniv.; Pace Car or standard 1978. Also find the trim tag on the drivers door frame (front on the fender inside door frame) and see what the color combo is for the car.

Also document as much of the history as possible, if it has a salvage title / new state VIN. I would be interested in the "Rust Factor" and repairs done to body and frame.

Bottom line the car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it, and what you are willing to sell it for ;)

Good luck, and welcome aboard.

:) Hello and welcome to the Corvette Action Center....I went to a Auction yesterday and they had a sharp reg 78...numbers car....with four speed and 62,000 on the clock.......also they had a 78 pace car.....numbers matching, auto, and 55,000 on the clock....the reg coupe went for $4700 and the pace car for $8200.......The pace car needed trailing arms.

Thanks for the info. The car is in major need of restoration and I'll try and post pics today. Have seen a few cars on Ebay and a couple other sites that are in worse shape asking $2500-$3500 (missing engine and wheels/tires). Will also check on the VIN but believe that was replaced because was removed when stolen originally.
