Help with c5 ebcm

Hi. Found this site while searching for an ebcm for our 1999. Had some work done at our local dealer and they broke it. When they replaced the harmonic balancer and tensioner and belts they "messed" it up. Now I find out it has been discontinued by GM. Now they say they can't help BUT if I can find it.....Please! It's top down weather and I can't run the roads in our "little red corvette" !! HELP!!!

The dealer destroyed the EBTCM in the process of replacing the balancer and the tensioner?!

I'd go back to the dealer and tell them they shall replace the EBTCM. One your visit be polite but firm.

If they continue to refuse, I'd sue them in small claims for the damages.

As for the EBTCM, there are folks which rebuild them or you find a good used one.

They say since GM discontinued that part they can't fix it. IF I an find the part they will work with me to "fix" it. BUT I can't find one! Do you know any place to get one?? Every where I've checked no go! HELP!!!!

The dealer is correct, the EBCM module for '99's is no longer available. You might try www.absfixer.com. Barndon may be able to help you, or at least point you in the right direction. He's done 5 rebuilds of EBCM's for me but all were 2000 or newer. His # is 877-648-7530. What, exactly, did the dealer break on your's?

After they replaced the harmonic balancer and all they did, it keeps flashing "active handling warming up' then " service active handling" then "service vehicle soon" Dealer "says it's ebcm and car is safe to drive but I just want it fixed. They have know they broke it when they dropped the steering but they can not locate part to fix it.

Seems very odd that a balancer job would damage the BCM. Have you checked the trouble codes?
Sounds more like a sensor sending bad info to the BCM than the unit itself going bad.
