hi i hvae an 89 and when i start the car it goes to a fast idle of about 1800 rpms then slowly comes down to a normal idle of about 900 rpms can i get some help with solving the problem of why it takes so long to come down to a normal idle.

Any codes?? 900 is not normal, it should go down to around 5 or 6.

Vacuum leak someplace...maybe a hose off or cracked someplace.

I CHECKED ALL MY HOSES AN CAN NOT FIND AN AIR LEAK ANY WHERE. HAS ANY ONE HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH THE TPI.I HAVE AN 89 AUTO.ALL SO I REPLACED THE BATTERY AND NOW MY MPG AN RANGE ARE NOT WORKING RIGHT. THERE ARE NO CODES SHOWING HEEEEEELP.

If a "00" comes up when you switch to "Av MPG" , "Instant MPG", "Range" & "Trip OD"....then the ECM is bad.
