Here's An Unusual Mod For A C5

Guys, The kit sells for $999.00 all over the net. I did all of the research. It was originally $2500.00 and then the competitors sprang up and a price war started. You can talk Verticaldoors.com down to $999.00. You can even chew down WCC. All of the car mags have them for $999.00. You need a good body guy. WCC has downloadable instructions. By the way, Vette doors weigh no more that any other car with vertical doors, ie. Lambo, Enzo or Mercedes SLR McLaren. The hydrolic tubed hold them up. It is much easier to enter and exit the car with vertical doors. Have'nt yet decided if I will do the mod.

It's alot better than bolting on every piece of chrome that you can find in the same exact catalog as everyone else. The lines of the car stay the same. The only time you would even notice them is when the person enters or exits the car. Definitely a cool surprise. Then again, 75% of people who own Vettes would probably opt for the ever-present stick on corvette letters with the chrome tail light louvers.

Oh Yeah, the reason car like Lambo, Ferrari etc., feature vertical doors is to ease entry into the vehicle. Someone earlier had said they looked difficult to get in and out, just wanted to clear that up.

Well, I have to give the upward doors this: it's a better mod than bolting an octopus to your engine.

I'm not saying I'd ever do this, I'm just giving my friend Chas crap about his favorite hockey team.


Chas, question for a thread to be started in the ORL: what are we going to do without hockey this year? Chelios and Foote are on the same side in CBA negotiations, and I think we agree, both are wrong about a salary cap. And we have no hockey to watch! Curse these greedy players. Let's start a thread about this in the Off Road Lounge, and get fellow hockey fans to complain- er, offer opinions on which side in the CBA dispute- is to blame here.

Okay then... we now return this thread to the subject of the upward opening doors. Any other thoughts? :L

October 2004 Vette Vues Mag has a picture of one at NCCC Convention in Las Vegas. Car has flames. Picture is in black and white.
I believe the mag is only available by subscription.
Have never seen one on a mag rack.
