Within a year, I want to get a C5. I will take it to Putnam Park Road Course, just West of Indy, where I live.

Yes, I know I should get a Z06 for what I want - a true track car. My budget dictates a pre 2001 C5.

The question is, would a 1999 or 2000 Hard Top be much of an advantage over a coupe of the same year in a road course environment?

Also, is there any significant difference between the 1999 and 2000 Hard Top?

Basically, I anticipate people encouraging me to get a Hard Top, based on my taste, but I would like a feel for how much different a Hard Top is from a coupe.

Thanks in advance for your help - this site rocks!

If anyone knows their C5 info, and knows Road Course car setup, I would love swap some emails on the subject.

There may be a small weight savings with the hardtop over the coupe. The back glass is smaller and lighter, some of the earlier models did not have the Bose stereo so I'm guessing those don't have the extra amplifiers. Most of the hardtops I've looked at have the standard seats (no power passenger seat) and no HUD. A few pounds here and there may affect your lap times.
