Holley Carb Application / Question

Sorry....new to forum and I placed this in the wrong one. Great start. eh? Re-posted question on technical C2 side, where it should've been to start with.




I've been searching for a Holley 2818 (p/n 3849804) for my 64 327 x 365hp motor.

I've read somewhere else that another owner of same used a Holley 1717 (p/n ????) for his application.

What was this Holley 1717 600cfm used on and is it a possible correct application for what I am looking for?

Is there any good website for this sort of information ?

there is no such holley carb with a LIST# 1717,2818 is the correct carb for a 1964 HIPO 327 corvette

Again, I am asking only because I read somehwere where someone fully restored their 64 327 x 365hp and this is the carb they used. It really confused me, cuz I have been looking for the list 2818 only.

the list on that carb is the 1850-2 # the 6R-1717-B is a casting number. the are some 2818 on e bay for $600-700.

The 1850 (-2 revision #)600cfm Holley looks and works just like the 2818 as well as a couple of other holleys that came on big ford trucks, they have side pivot floats, a transfer tube, and use a metering plate for the secondary instead of a metering block with jets and a power valve, the fuel line is all I see as a concern
I have few of these carbs if your interested, as they work on anything and everything.

I picked this up from the netvettes.com archives in a search on yahoo.

An original (not a replacement 2818-1) can be hard to find.
The following info is from the NCRS Judging Manual for 63-64:
Stamped on the air horn on the left side is "LIST 2818" withOUT a "-1", "R", or "A".
Stamped on the right side of the air horn is the GM part number, "3849804", and below that will be the date stamp. The date stamp will be in this format: "462". This decodes as 1964, June, second week of month. This date would be OK for my car which has a June 22, '64 build date.
The 4150 carb will have two metering bodies, the LIST number will not be stamped on the top of the metering bodies as on later carbs.
