Okay folks, now that we have identified Commander 950, we need exact parts ordering and other information as follows. Help will be highly appreciated (as usual :)). here is the story:

We have an LT-1 engine removed from a wrecked 94 Chevrolette Corvette. The engine is complete with its injectors, TPS, EGR valve, MAP sensor, throttle body, knock sensors, ignition coil and other attached parts. However it does not have O2 sensors and the MAF sensor. Engine number is V0616ZVB.

The project is to install the engine on a 1967 RS Camaro together with the 6 speed manual ZF transmission and the differential from the same wrecked Corvette. A "Paxton Superscharger" will also be installed on the engine. Fuel injectors, fuel rails, etc will remain the same way they are on the LT-1 engine.

We have so far identified the Holley Commander 950 as the ECU of this project. We need following questions to be answered before we can proceed with our purchase of the required parts:

1. What are the Holley parts that are required for our project; i.e. is there a complete kit that we can order or are the parts to be ordered individually?

2. Is there a need to install a MAF sensor in our application and if so what part numbers are recommended; i.e. the sensor, its harness, etc? Same questions for O2 sensors...

3. What is meant by "custom crank trigger installation" that is stated in the Holley web pages for the LT-1 engine application.

Cheers,

Selim

Call or e-mail Holley Tech Support they will give you the correct part numbers, if you are going with a blower you may need bigger injectors

http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/TechServ/TechServ.html

2 it is a speed density system so it doesnt need a MAF but does need a MAP, O2 and temp sensors and can use a knock sensor
3 the LT1 does not have a Distributor like the earlier V8 so the Commander 950 needs to have the crank sensor to know when to fire the ignition and injectors.
With my setup it takes a signal from the distributor.

Hey thanks Bossvette, I already sent a few email's to both Holley and its dealers. But thanks again.

How do we go about the "crank sensor"??? Is it already installed on the vehicle or is this something additional we need to install? Can you please give me parts information?

The LT-1 engine we have has the opti spark on it; I thought opti spark did all the spark timing; i.e. when to ignite the injectors & the spark???

Cheers,

Selim

try member drjohn he may be able to hook you up with a 800 number for tech being you are overseas.

the LT1 has a crank sensor on it but I don't know if it will work with the 950

US economy must be doing really good... I sent at least 4 or 5 e-mail messages to Jeg's, Holley, and Summit Racing and have no response at all :( They must be very busy I assume. I also identified another company (FAST) doing similar products but they have a terrible web page; simply horrible.

I just sent you an e-mail.

Thanks John, I am almost there with the information I needed. I just responded to your e-mail. Thanks for the time you are taking to resolve my problem.

FWIW I chose the Holley unit over the others that were availabe at that time mainly because the tech support was faster and I could actually talk to someone on the phone.
I had part numbers and info in a few days and the system ordered, bought and installed before I even got a response from some of the others.
Edelbrock was a close second but he would not commit to wether I could modify their system to work with a TPI ( I think it could be) the Holley is a direct replacement for a L98 and others.
Good luck

Thanks Bosvette; I called Holley yesterday and got the info on the phone. It was so much faster and easier that way :)

Thanks again.
