It's play time and I thought of an idea for a "Home-made" exhaust system with a growl. I have an extra set of mufflers that I thought about cutting open to remove and/or rearrange the baffles to get a bit of growl out of my '98. Has anyone tried such a project and how did it turn out?

My second choice is to splice in a pair of DMH electric exhaust cutouts and keep my stock mufflers on the shelf for back-ups. since the cut outs have infinite open/close settings I could choose the amount of "Growl" at will. Of course this is the most expensive way to go which I wouldn't mind avoiding.

Let me hear your thoughts.

Thanks.

Well, I think my idea is a little too extreme since I guess no one has tried the can opener-remove-the-baffles-reseal the mufflers approach.
I decided to go with the DMH cutouts and keep my stock exhausts as backup. This will be a winter project so I will let you all know how it turns out when completed.

Can you hear the rumble?
