Hello Folks!!..
I have a question for you "Big Dawgs" of the Vette community. I have an 81...are there some after market hood latches that I can buy for my Vette? My "drivers side" (upper corner) doesn't go down far enough to be flush with the rest. It sticks up about 1/2 inch. You can push it down, but it won't stay. I was at a "Cruiz In" today...droolin' all over my shirt...lookin' at all the fine rides. I noticed some "bumper" vettes with their hood's up, and they had adjustments where the prongs (you could adjust up or down with a screwdriver)fit into the latches. My "86" and "90" both had this also. What can I do??... ;shrug

Ol'Scratch ~ Welcome to the Corvette Action Center Community ~

If I understand correctly, the hood does not fit or match with the fender directly infront and at the bottom of the windshield??

I would bet that along the lines of the hood more than half way down to the nose of the car, there is a place or maybe a couple that the hood fits LOWER than the fender ;) by getting a hard rubber bumper, (you can use a rubber coil spring spacer cut down) place the rubber bumper at the low spot and close the hood, I think you'll find the rear end of the hood will start to come down to match the fender, as well the lower hood will come up to match the fender..

There was no set place for the rubber bumper adjusters during mfr. I asked Gordon Killibrew ;) just incase you see someone elses and try to match theirs ;) put the rubber bumpers at the low spot and you will be amazed that the windshield end will come down ;)

Thank you Rare81...I'll check that out. I do have a low spot halfway down on the passengers side of the hood (missalignment is on drivers side). I had some rubber pieces that were on top the radiator housing. I understood that they were part of the air induction stuff. But I never noticed anything along the sides of the hood. I'll get out there and take a good squint at the hood.
Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.

Got the same problem on a 75 hood fits good along the sides only low spot is front center and it's not that bad I was looking at a 76 the guy had took off those adj. bumper at the latches had those little bumpers just past the wheelwells. Question does your hood slam real soildly or is it wobblely?

Thanks Joe1975...
My hood shuts solidly. Where do you pick up those rubber bumpers you were talking about?. I'd like to pick some up and see if they help.
Thanks for your reply

Yes...but What in the "Wide World of Sports" would you call those things??? rubber hood adjusters?? :confused I guess I could just peruse through their catalog and hope I get lucky...:>)) Thanks for your help... :D

As I stated earlier, I used the Rubber Spacers for coil springs, I used my exacto knife and cut them down to square blocks and glued them in place, once I got the results I was looking for ;)

I also went to "Pick & Pull" and removed a few from wrecks.. I went to my local Chevrolet Dealer and was told they were discontinued as a stock item :eyerole

Good Luck finding them.

Bud
