hood latch broke

anybody have any tricks on getting the hood open on a 76 shark once the latch cable lets go?

I had that happen on my 82,probably the same style,get a skinny hand and get hold of the cable and pray,from the rear of the hood.Hope that work's.

First of all, Welcome to the CAC! You picked the the right site, or should I say the only site for Corvettes!

Now as for your hood, I too tried the skinny arm trick at a neighbor's home on his shark, unfortunately the skinny arm was mine. After that painful event I found a great step by step guide at Mid-America's website, just follow this link to see the instructions.
