Are they all interchangable? I mean, Ecklers lists one hood to fit 1968-1976, and one for 1977-1981. Vanacor is listing one hood to fit 1968-1973 and one for 1974-1981... Frustrating...

I think it has more to do with the cowl line match than anything else. I met a guy on Power Tour that had a 77 hood on his 71. He did the fiberglass match work at the fender edges to blend the cut lines together. It looked pretty good.
Wiper door
Well one thing is the wiper door on 68-72's. That would make their hoods a few inches shorter.
Otherwise, i think you could swap them. I don't think i've seen very many C3's with a good fit for the hood and headlights. The seams are usually uneven. Even on the cars in the Corvette Museum!
