The hood release handle on my '91 ZR-1 has become "unhooked' and is inoperable. There is a pin apprimately 2" long that was was on the floor which I assume came from the release handle. The handle is hanging from the cable. Has anyone had this problem? It looks like part of the dash has to be removed to get to it, correct?
Any advice would be appreciated.

P.S. I have a tool to open the hood but it is a pain in the neck to use!

To get to the handle, you will have to remove the lower black plastic kick panel which is held in place with several screws, then the carpeted panel under the steering wheel can be removed. There are two screws up through the front of the panel and then two more on the side above the latch release handle.

After that, you should be able to lie upside down on your head under the dash and see where the pin came from.

Good luck, I'm sure this will be a pain to get to and fix even if you don't need a new part or handle.

Thanks for the reply. I'll get started on your suggestion right away.
