I just got a quote from Jet-Hot to coat these side pipes and it came to $1100. That's a little steep for me. I was going to get the black painted pipes and coat them. Now I think I'll get the chrome ones. My question is - those of you that have the hooker side pipes in chrome, do you have maintenance problems like dis-coloring and rust? Are thses good quality pipes. (I'm talking about the four in one headers and side pipes)

Thanks Doug

Doug,

Hate to rain on your parade but the chrome ones are just as, if not more expensive I believe. Just my opinion but chrome would be much harder to keep clean and rust free, the jet hot is very easy to maintain, they also have a black coating if you wanted.

As far as quality pipes, I've had mine 5 years and wouldn't have it any other way.

Hey Scott,

I know the Chrome ones are about $350 more than the painted ones. The $1100 is in addition to the cost of the painted pipes, which are $700 from Summit w/o insert. I figured that I'd rather have the chrome pipes for $1050 rather than the painted pipes coated by jet hot for $1800. This is not a daily driver and is garage kept. I would think the maintenance would be similar to the pipes on my Harley. I didn't realize how expensive jet hot is; didn't you have problems with them before?

Thanks

Doug

Doug,

I think you're getting bad info on prices. The coated Jet-Hot ones will run about $1100 total(not $1800), buy them direct, email me for more info on buying from them.

I had a problem with Jet-Hot customer service people, the ones I dealt with were complete idiots, I now know who to deal with directly.

If you want chrome and it's not a daily driver they will be much easier to care for. The part that you need to pay most attention to no matter what coating they have is where the pipes come together just behind the front tires.
