Why wouldn't Chevrolet put the LT376/535, 535/470 lb ft engine in the Corvette? Its available from Chevy Perfromance.

Why wouldn't Chevrolet put the LT376/535, 535/470 lb ft engine in the Corvette? Its available from Chevy Perfromance.

The simple answer is cost per unit. Even if GM charged more for them, the assembly line hassles would not be justifiable to the bean counters.

Crate engines are spec'd in gross HP, not net HP like an installed engine.
