I found this monster lurking at Vettefest. Not quite NCRS.

Now that looks like fun...

With that motor.
That power.
That color.

Don't think it would take too long for the cops to track me down :eek

Tom,

I have read and printed out your post on wheel rims (03/21/03) because I plan to put non-stocks on my 65. Recently, I saw a set of "Smoothies" on a car and I really liked 'em. Then I see a set on the Car behind and to the left of the yellow one in your photo. For the sake of looks alone, I am considering a set of square profile tires on smoothy rims. Do you know a maximum size that will fit? or perhaps a more sane question would be, Do you know of a good combination of rim size and square profile tire that would fit and not look ridiculous?

As always, thanks.
Bo

PS Body is off and frame has already been altered with the removable tranny support/cross member shown in a previous post (a good friend of mine rebuilds frames). I expect car to be roadable this year.

Bo,

By square profile do you mean bias ply wide profile tires? As for wheels you might get some tire rubbing on the front when turned with 15X8" wheels. On the rear 8" is about maximum without going to offset trailing arms. I'm not really sure how much you will gain with the offset trailing arms and no flares. You should be able to run more backspacing and maybe go to 10" though. The companies that sell the trailing arms should be able to tell you.

http://www.stocktonwheel.com/orderform.htm and www.petepaulsen.com among others have good info on how to figure wheel size and backspacing in their catalogs and on their sites.

Check the tire selector charts in the Tools tab at the top of the page for tire demensions. They list all of the measurements on each size tire so you can figure what will fit. If you're looking for old style bias ply wide tires you may have to go to Coker Tire for that info.
