Help! Hot start hassle.

Re: C4 warm start problems:
We have a guy in our local club who has a 88 and someone told him the problem is that the computer is on the passenger side and the engine heat is affecting it.
I don't know if this is true or not. ??

I have a 1990 with the ECM computer on the driver's side... no problems with warm start.
The only problem I have is a temp of 240 degrees when doing long parades. L98 engine.
I take it out on the open road after the long parades and it cools down.

Hard hot starting problem

My 88 coupe had the identical problem. After running 30 minutes I would have to wait 20 minutes for it to cool so it would restart. I found that keeping the accelerator pedal to the floor when hot starting helped, thus leading me to believe I had a leaking injector that was telling the computer I had a flooded engine. I initially cleaned the throttle body thoroughly with throttle body spray cleaner, replaced both MAF relays as well as fuel pump regulator relay. Improved idle, takeoff and reduced, but not totally eliminated, the hot hard starting problem. I'm going to replace the 20 year old fuel injectors & O2 sensor this Spring because it's time and I suspect a leaking injector or two. Don't think location of computer under passenger side dash has anything to do with a hard starting problem. Hope this helps.

There is no O2 feedback to the ECM on startup.

The leaking injectors "flood" the manifold resulting in a hard hot start until the fuel is cleared.
( like starting a carb car with the choke on when hot )

Holding the throttle open more than 1/4 when cranking stops the injectors firing so the engine will fire on the residual fuel in the intake.
