How are the hood emblems (eg, my "L-82" emblems) attached? I want to transfer them to the new hood, when I get it.

Joe

Underneath them there is a small speed nut on each of the posts that goes through the hood. I think they are 1/2". If the emblems have been glued down or had tape used to hold them on try some fishing line to slide under and cut the tape. If you can't remove them without prying place a wide putty knife flat on the the hood and try to slip a narrow putty knife under the emblem. Remember fiberglass dents very well.

You can also try to heat the emblem with a hair dryer or heat gun.

Did you make the decision on what hood you are going to go with?

Thanks, guys.

I'm still trying to decide between the L88 and Stinger...

Are you dropping a big block in or are you just keeping in your L82? Any other modifications, like fuel injection or a new manifold? Because if you don't need the excess clearance of an L88, then it would be one of those "all show and no go" sort of deals. I like the stinger hood. I would go with that.

And if you just want to pop for new emblems, they are a couple of bucks at Mid-America. :)

Good luck!! :D

I'm going to be replacing the manifold, and probably glassing in a cowl-induction chamber, eventually. The L88 is about 2 1/4" taller than stock.

I do, too. And it's more uncommon, as well. It'll be 1 3/4" taller than stock, which still gives me a bit of extra clearance...

Yeah, they're like $20 each. I think I'll re-use my originals, if I can get them off :)

Thanks.
