Replace the front fender inserts. i just bought 2 new ones from GM. I was looking at the originalls and they appear to be revitted in place.

Are you talking about the "gill" portions
of the front fenders?

It is the part of the fender that attaches to the bottom of the claw shell. Whne the hood is closed it forms the top of the inter fender and when you open the hood it comes up with the hood.

Could that be the front wheelhouse upper panel (s)? If it is they are rivited

Yes that would be them. How do I replace them. I have new ones.

The manual shows a drawing of the
upper panel & how it attaches to the
hood inner panel with rivits & that's it.

You will have to drill out some rivits &
do some careful investigating. The manual is of no help here. Sori.:confused

Maybe someone else has done it & can help?

I noticed this on my 96 also. On my 85 they were attached w/ torx screws and I was able to remove for cleaning. On 96 they seem to be attached permanently and can not be removed. :confused Guy

Where can one find those torx screws on the older models? I noticed my 86 has two missing.
