How do the sun visor rods get removed?

installed new chrome corner top windshied moldings. how do I remove the visor rods. I poped off the chrome caps, and there is a little retaining round nut/washer like fasener. I can't get at it, it's recessed, when I spin the visor rod it just spins. Anyone delt with this seemingly minor problem, any suggestions. Thanks Jon

Hi, took mine off on my 80. All I did was take a flat punch and smack it out, didnt take much at all and i could still reuse the retainer too. Hope this helps.
