Seems to so common of a malady w/ LT1's, doesn't it? My car runs good, but I've given up trying to track down why, oh why, does it have a slight but nonetheless noticeable chuggle or skip that roves around randomly at idle? Most noticeable if the shifter to the auto trans is in 'park' or 'neutral', put her in gear and she sounds steady under the brake in gear idling. So strange. She has a new opti. She has new plugs. She has new wires. She has a new coil. So its not ignition related. (prior opti failed is reason for changes not done as attempt to isolate the skip which it had before and still has). I removed the EGR valve and cleaned it well, no help. Examined every visible inch of vacuum line, all in very good condition. New pcv valve, like that would matter.
I almost wonder if the oxygen sensors could be causing it? But at 35,000 miles you wouldn't think O2's would be getting flakey yet and I've not run any funky stuff through the injectors that might foul the O2's. Hmmm... what about those injectors? Maybe one or two is lazy at idle?
Who knows, she runs strong, fuel economy is where it should be (~ 18mpg avg around town), AND the tech at the dealership where I have had some extended warranty work done (wouldn't use dealer for paid-by-me repairs, nope, no sir) refuses to acknowledge the condition and keeps calling it a 'normal condition'. Go figure.
