Hey guys,

Anyone know the official book time to r/r the auto trans (4L60E) in a 94 convertible?

Thanks!

John

I don't know about official book time. I've pulled mine a couple of times so I've learned the tricks. I can get one out in 2 hrs putting one back in about 2 1/2 hrs. I would guess the dealership would charge 4 hours to pull and 4 hrs to install.

:w

Thanks, Hrtbeat1. Does that include pulling/replacing the exhaust? Because it took me 2 hours for that alone. On a lift with an oxyacetylene torch and an air gun. And 2 more hours to drill out the broken studs on the cat. Yeesh!

Auto trans remove

I had Elk Transmission (in Northeast in front of the VEIP station and behind the tune up place) rebuild my trans. They dropped the entire exhaust (unbolted at the exhaust headers) and used a really long extension (3+ feet long) to get the top bell housing bolts out.
I don't know what time they started but when I visited at 8:30 AM, the trans was out. I picked the car up at closing time and it shifts great. That was 2 years ago.
Obviously a lift is almost essential.
Good luck.
