I saw a setup like this on eBay:

TPIS Big Mouth intake-ported
large tube runners
ported plenum
fuel rail
adjustable fuel pressure regulator

Should be well worth $500 or so. What kind of AFPR?

Don't know, they didn't say. That Big Mouth is $400+ if bought new from TPIS. They had this for auction earlier but it didn't meet the reserve.

when I did mine in 2000 I paid $600 for a 91 Corvette base with SLP runners, plenum, injectors and throttle body. The prices have come down since. I plan on rebuilding mine this winter and may switch to a stealth ram (depending on my cash situation).
The fuel rails (Corvette) are the only thing holding value.

I don't forsee a problem with buying used non-electrical or moving parts. Is my thinking right on that?

I could save a lot of money to going with the used route on non-electrical and moving parts.

I sure saved a LOT of money going with preowned partseverything from headlights to tailpipes. Almost the only thing I bought new were some electrical components, wheel and tires (couldn't find what I wanted used, but got good buys none the less),u-joints and the DeWitts radiator. It's not for everyone, but I took my time, found what I wanted, communicated well and am more than pleased. Still cost me a small fortune to have a dependable, FAST, $16,000, $6,000 Vette ;LOL

NO, it's the White one :L

BTW, I got my Bigmouth, large tubes and SR used in very good shape for around, $1000. I also had a MR II with an AFPR that I sold for about the same, and an LT 1 conversion intake that went to MadMic complete incl. powdercoating for around $500.

Moon,

So my desired setup of Big Mouth, large tubes should be considerably less because I'm just going to port my stock plenum?

My goal is for low end torque, not high horsepower. Is this intake enough to feed a 383?

Yes, I'm running it in a 383. Do you have an A4 or a standard? If you've got a standard, this should be a good setup. Unless I'm mistaken, you may not gain a lot from porting tht plenum, but it can't hurt. The MR, and LT1 coversion intakes are generally used on standard shift cars and do not provide quite the low end torque that the SR does. Rather, they give better high R performance. My guess would be you will recieve similar benifits, although greatly reduced using the ported stock plenum.

Hope this helps, and I'm sure someone will jump in and correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this info is acurate. Hope it helps you.

Oh ya, I now have a vette with three decals, and a BIG ugly place on the Dr. side door with no clearcot AND no 66 :cry
