** How to Check Alternator???

Hi All....

I have a goofy wire problem out of nowhere. I will clean battery terminals(batt has full charge)but want to check alternator. How do you check the alt while on the car, I probably have the tools just need to know how?

Connect a Voltmeter across the Alt. output terminal and case.

With the motor running the Voltmeter should read about 14.7 Volts.

Turn everything on, i.e., Lights, A/C, radio, rear window defogger, wipers, etc.

The voltage should not drop much below 13.8 volts.
