So I have a pretty dirty engine bay. I am wondering how I should go about cleaning it. I know I should tape off and cover all electrical parts, but what chemicals should I use? Just looking for some advice.
:beer

I have an 81 and when I bought it the engine bay was ugly.I decided that I wasn't going to use water with all the electricals exposed so i did it the hard way with cans of brake clean and wd40.It took awhile but not as bad as you might think. To start spraying water under pressure on old electrical parts is just asking for trouble.

Unless you have really heavy grease build-up, IMO a pressure washer is overkill. Personally I've had good results w/ Simple Green and garden hose sprayer.

Yeah, I am going to stay away from the pressure washer! :ohnoes

I plan on working on it this weekend, I'll post pics when I'm done. :thumb

I'd rather have a little pure water in the wiring plugs than Simple Green,Purple Power,Super Clean, or any other etching cleaner!!:thumb

Yep, this technique worked great for me as well.

Simple Green and a few towels.
