i was under the impression if the reading was colder the mixture would be richen up and the mixture is too rich now stock at WOT. am i wrong ????

Just tune the car. Don't trick the car into thinking it has cooler air than it does, its not worth the hassle and possible problems. They are rich stock which you can fix tuning. To avoid heat soak use a Ligenfelter CAI. Moving the IAT away from the MAF is not going to net you any great performance at the expense of hacking up the wiring harness.

By the way, telling the car the air is cooler, or cooler than it is seeing at the MAF, helps keep the car from pulling timing. I actually am modifying the timing tables for higher IATs so it is not so aggressive. But, my motor is a big stroker with all kinds of stupid mods. I would leave it alone in 98% of applications.
