Pilot,

People will probably also go take out a warranty claim for something like a burnt out light bulb right? It technically is a malfunction, but if you just look at the raw numbers, it's still a claim.

You're right, if they actually broke it down to say cosmetic and mechanical, that would do it more justice. I'm sure a lot of those claim problems could be fixed in hours and I'm also sure that there are serious problems like oil consumption or tranny problems, etc...

You hit that one directly on the head, I have, in the past, seen burnt out light bulbs and other such (normal maintenance) items routinly taken care of under warranty adjustment claims so the dealer will remain in good graces to their best customers. Those claims are the type I was referring to in my above post remarks.
Similarly smearing , squeaking, chattering wiper blades, tire balance problems etc. all fall into that category.

My big thing about all of this how many Volvo web sites do you see out there? Not to many that I know of. Every one buys a Corvette for fun and enjoyment and many have waited a long time to get their cars, thus wanting them to be perfect. Most do not expect a Volvo or Camry to be perfect and most do not have to wait a long time to purchase a Volvo or Camry. At least if I was going to buy a Corvette (any year at that) I could always go to a web site like this to find all of the ends and outs about that model year. Not sure that I can do that with any other car Foreign or American. I have never owned a perfect car that was perfect for the entire time that I owned it. All have problems, we just hear about them here to help each other to find solutions, to try to keep them perfect forever (impossible). That is at least how I see it.

Beleave it or not there are Volvo web sites and people who race them, how ever I beleave that based on what I have read that the C5 Corvette is really the car to have, it seems that GM really puts there all into the Corvette and it seems to be the case with the C5.
I think it can be said that each geeration gets better as it should.
I still say dollar for dollar it really is a world class car and is well worth the wait.
I asked the qustion because Corvette was slammed in the past generations for quality issues and now when the automotive press embraces the Corvette that is really good.
When I get my Corvett, I will keep it for the rest of my life and plan to put alot of miles on it as it should be not garaged all of the time.
