Have you guys seen the HYDROBOOST power brake system? It runs off of the power steering pump, and requires "NO VACUUM" The C2 and C3 cars had huge brakes, but with a cam and low vacuum, they were hard to stop. The brake was always low and spongy from the factory. The hydroboost has a quick take up linkage inside to give a firm pedal feel with any size master. The pedal rod is adjustable to raise up that low pedal. They work outstanding on Corvettes that have been updated with 572's, LS1's, or roller cams. The Turbo Buicks are able to spool up the turbo to 10lbs of boost on the line with the brakes locked, because the p/s pump is spinning faster! The L88 Corvettes all came with power brakes, because you could not stop that at 150 plus into a turn with manual brakes. Chevy was nervous about selling those cars for street use because at idle, they did not have enough vacuum to work the brakes. The hydroboost solves all of that. Rick Moroso has a 572 68 Corvette. The tall block crowds the vacuum booster off the firewqll, and has no vacuum, anyway. Hydroboost to the rescue! You can check them out at POWERBRAKESONLINE.COM and Moroso's car at MOROSO.COM
