Need Advice

Here we go again, I purchased a Hypertch Power Programmer and before I go and install the new program, I wanted to verify with my fellow Corvette owners if there is anything I should know or any Dos or Don'ts I should be aware of :ugh

Can't help out with answers, but would you be able to post results after you reprogram? I am interested to see the outcome.

I will, so far I have to change the 180° to a 160° thermostat and I need my axle ratio which is 3:42. Instructions says it would take up to six minutes to program. Once I get it done, I put the results in this thread, stay subscribed!!:D

For your 87 you only need the chip, unless you also have a 94-95. Again for the 96 a complete different power programmer is needed, 96s are the C4 black sheep but I'd say they are good black sheep, I wish I had a LT4!!

Thanks
Pedro

The only issues with programmers (Hypertech or otherwise) really only has to do with OnStar, which in your case doesn't apply. The only other thing to be sure of is your battery is good..the last thing you want to have happen is lose power while flashing your PCM. Otherwise, smooth sailing!

Haven't used one on a Vette, but used one on my '97 Silverado. No problems, worked great. Was able to adjust shift points, speedo for larger tires, and remove electronic govener. Let us know how it works on the Vette :beer

I have one on my 96 CE LT4. Currently only using it for the fan temp reduction, but that was all what I wanted at the time. Took temps in the 230s most of the time to the 190s or less. Since the tires wheels and tranny are all stock, no need yet to change anything there --- yet.

The install was straight forward - took maybe 10 minutes or less. Its easy to return to stock. No problems. I think it is a great investment for current and future uses.

Make sure you drain your coolent at the radiator before you install the thermostat,if you don't the opti is gone.
You also need to know the size of your tires.
I do not use the engine set up on the thing.
Use the trans firmness.
The coolent temp will only go down to about 185 most to the time.
Don't use the shift points.
Remove the revlimiter.
Set the tire size to z rating the car will go faster on the top end. I use one of these when I am in a hurry and MAKE SURE THE BATTERY IS FULLY CHARGED OR YOU CAN BLOW YOUR COMPUTER.
