Here is my 2 cents...
I say thank God for these old procrastinators that can't bear to separate with anything. While in many ways they neglect these cars to death, they also keep them off the road for 20-30 years at a clip. In many respects this preserves these vehicles that may otherwise have been totally worn out, wrecked or dismantled or even crushed many years ago. Half the fun is finding these gems just when you think there couldn't possibly be any left out there to restore. There is a 59 or 60 one a block away from my home that I have to look at everyday on my way to & from work. It has sat next to a storage shed for the last 20 years or more. Must have mice in the seats and in the frame. Mice can really rot out a frame. Been tempted many times to stop but I am discouraged to think how many others have already done so over the years. But like my wife says "timing is everything". Right now I have to focus on my 61 restoration but when it is done I may just give it a shot.
