I just picked up my '79 today, and drove it home (about 2 1/2 hours). But I have a big problem, now: how am I supposed to get this stupid grin off my face? :D

I mean, I'll look pretty dumb walking around like this :)

I definitely think I'm in trouble - I keep going into the garage to look at the car. I'm glad the seats don't recline - I might be tempted to sleep in it.

My face is starting to ache, now :)

What a great felling!!! We can all relate to that "smile", but your neighbors will think you are nuts! :beer

Joe,

I hate to break it to you, but it's my professional opinion that you've been bitten by the "bug". In cases as serious as this, it's usually a life long affliction. The best advice I can give you is to take the car out on a regular basis.

I know it's not much of a cure, and in many cases it actually makes the situation worse, but the only other choice is to not drive the car... A fate worse than death IMO :D

Congrats on your new ride.

Woooo-Hoooo!

Congrats!

The grin stays. Nothing you can do about it. The condition worsens the closer you are to the vette.

Yeah, ya look pretty dumb from here - NOT! :L Enjoy it, Joe - you looked hard enough for it :upthumbs. Let's get together at some point - I'll drive up.

I've had the same problem now for about six weeks, since I got my 93. I can't get this look :J off my face.
congrats and enjoy-rember this look is better than the alternative!:beer

That's a true Corvette Lover

We all understand. I did the same thing, I would keep going to my garage not so much to see a Corvette, but to see my garage that now had a Corvette in it!

This was my third Corvette and after a twenty year absence I just couldn't believe that I was that fortunate again to have one.

Good luck with the new Vette.

.

Joe,I know where you are coming from. When I got my car,I made excuses to go out to the garage constantly. Congrats on your vette purchase!!!!

Dave

This problem may worsen causing one to seek multiple corvettes........ Congrats on your finding your '79 "your shark bit" enjoy the ride!!

Oh, no! You're telling me there is no cure? I guess I had better just enjoy it, then! :D

Joe

Your next stop will be that you'll name your Vette. I did! I also heard on TV the other day a report that 30% of car owners name their vehicle, so you won't be alone...:L

7 months for me, goofy smile still won't go away.
I don't just open the garage door & look at it, sometimes I go sit in it for a while. AHhhhhhhh :)
Go get that digital cam & post a pic.

28 years.. and no help in sight

That's how long I have had the grin.

Tips

Things that reduce the grin....

Yugo's in front of you that are blocking the road.

Repair bills ( not to be confused with improvements.. that will INCREASE the grin).

Smog inspections

Snow ( If you live back east..doesn't apply to sunny state people)

Things to AVOID
( IF you want to reduce the grin)

Sunny days with the top down ( or T tops off).

Hot Babes ( or dudes as the gender of owner applies) Checking your ride out.

Car Clubs, rallies, etc.

The list goes on & on.

I know research is happening every day to help us... but there is no cure in sight.

Vig!

( and for the record.. I for one hope they DO NOT find a cure!)

I've had mine about a month--wanted one for 30+ years. My wife goes out into the garage every moening & yells out "There's a Corvette in our garage!!!!).

I'm thinking about running cable TV in there for the winter so I can contnue to enjoy it while watching basketball. Although its only 45 dergrees outside-it is sunny and the top came down for a spin after work today.

If there is a cure DON'T TELL ME ABOUT IT!!!

:upthumbs :s :) :gap :crazy

Joe,
I'm sorry, but I have very bad news for you. The first time you blow away a So Called sports car from a light, the "grin" becomes a "S*** Eating Grin". :bu

So it gets worse, not better. I have also found that since turning 40 and buying my '73, I have actually started to get younger and stronger. I know the FDA has not taken a look at this, but I was thinking about Viagra before I got my Vette. I no longer need it.
:eek

But, hey, I may not be the norm! :crazy

MaineShark - Here's to another Mainiac with a Vette! :beer

If you're around Central Maine and see a White Stingray being driven by someone else that has a huge smile on his face...that would be me!!! Mine needs a TON of work and she's not real pretty...but when I'm rowing through that 4 speed and nailing that gas pedal, I feel like I'm conducting my own little orchestra....

I am not sure how to describe it either, but when I look at that car with its bulging fenders and sweeping lines...I swear it hits a part of my brain that is still 16!...wait a second...my wife says that my whole brain is still 16!!

I think this link pretty much sums it up!! http://www.braaap.com/vette.htm

Welcome to the forum. Now that you have one you will eventually have to have another, then another.....etc.

BTW, 76L82 is that you in the video. That thing rocks.
