I have now seen the finished C6 Interior...

. . .interesting. . .

-Is it two tone???

-Did it look like it had good quality or did it look kinda overdramatized like the pontiac?

-How similar is the guage cluster to the G/P??
- I'm guessing it had that carbon fiber look on the back of the guages like that of the C5.

What I can say is it follows the theme of the GT interior it has the same "look". What I saw was a very good enlarged photo and not the real thing in person. It looked like a graphite/black type color. I have been told also that the car has undergone another set of exterior styling adjustments and that the front fenders now look a bit cartoonish.

Good info.

This is good information.

My guess is that if the rumor is true that the car has undergone additional styling refinements, the reason might be the overwhelmingly negative reaction the car got as a result of the "Autoweek" article. For those who subscribe to "Autoweek" the letters were almost uniformaly negative to the looks, and I think this prompted some sort of PR reply from GM--- probably the same people who were responsible for the styling to begin with. It's obvious that Lutz inherited a design he did not like, and to some extent is stuck with it and trying to do what he can. Too bad.

IMHO Pontiac has always had cheesy interiors so I really hope this isn't the case with the C6. Pontiacs have been know to have more plastic than fischer price. :nono

I wonder if the more "cartoonish" front and rear fascia take more design cues from the SS concept that Chevy unveiled in Detroit in January. I think that the SS is an overall beautiful car, and most people I talk to say that C6 gets several design and mechanical features from that concept (6.0 liter engien, same rear tranny, curvy fenders and exposed headlights to name a few).

I do like the SS, and I can definitely see where some folks think that the front and rear of that thing look cartoonish.

Well, the Autoweek pictures showed absolutely nothing. It was said they were highly camoed C5's anyway, and the real C6 will be nothing like them.

As for the interior, that is the last thing I am worried about. The complaints on the C5 interior were taken to heart, and that is basically the first thing they said would be improved.

C5/C6

This is just my own opinion, but I could be wrong.

I've seen the photo's of the new "C6".
I'm sorry, I didn't then, and I still don't believe that's the car.

It might be a C6, but it's using a tweaked C5 body. GM is not going to go to all the expense developing and creating a new Corvette, that looks exactly like the last one.
It would be suicide to the developers.

Remember, the 1982 Cross Fire was the last C3 built, but had the engine, tranny, etc. for the C4.

Once Chevy got all the parts in place, they slapped a new interior in it, and C4 body panels, and WA-LA. A BRAND NEW VETTE.

I think that's exactly what they're doing again.

But, I could be wrong. :crazy

Well just how much different looking was the "all new" C5 when it came out from the C4? Not a whole heck of a lot. C5 styling was just a "modernd up" C4 in my opnion. What you saw in the spy photos (except for the fake C5 rear end) is real C6. I dont think that the XLR interior is all that fabulous looking for a pushing 80K car. The Grand Prix interior does not look much cheaper to me then the XLRs supposed "Best interior GM has ever done" quoted by Dave Hill. If thats the best GM can do for 80 grand I would be embarassed comparing that to a Jag or Lexus.

Actually the only things the C5 shared with the C4 was its 4L60-E auto tranny and some fasteners. There were major changes between the C4 and the C5, the most notable was the frame which was vastly stronger than any previous Corvette substructure. Much more interior room and a newly designed engine which weighed 45lbs less than the '96 LT4. Plus the new LS1 had 15 more horsepower than the LT4 and 10 more foot pounds of torque. In essence, the C5 was new, inside and out.

If they keep making it more cartoonish it WILL look my SIG. ;LOL ;LOL ;LOL
